‘Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is NOT the right man for Manchester United – Sean Dyche would do a better job’, says talkSPORT host Jason Cundy

Sean Dyche is a ‘better manager’ than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and would get more out of the current Manchester United team, believes Jason Cundy.

The Red Devils suffered their seventh defeat in nine games as they lost to derby rivals Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Did Manchester United make a mistake by giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the permanent job?

City climbed back to the top of the Premier League table with a 2-0 win, as Pep Guardiola became the first manager to claim three consecutive victories over United at Old Trafford.

It was another below-par performance from Solskjaer’s side.

It was an improved display from Sunday’s humbling 4-0 loss to Everton, but they were still easily beaten by their superior rivals who were barely troubled defensively throughout the whole game – United landing just one shot on target.

Despite being appointed permanent manager just weeks ago, Solskjaer is already under pressure in the Old Trafford hotseat.

And talkSPORT host Cundy is convinced the Norwegian is not a good enough coach to guide the club out of their deep rut.

Speaking to United fan Andy Goldstein on Wednesday night’s Sports Bar, the former Chelsea defender said: “Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not the man to lead you out of this mess.

“I’m basing that on what we’ve seen – seven defeats in nine! I’ve seen enough.

“You look at the way United are playing at the minute. I saw them against Everton and that was unacceptable – that was Solskjaer’s team, it wasn’t Mourinho’s team.

“I’m expecting effort, and you don’t have to be a good player to put effort in.

“I’m sorry, but Burnley put more effort in against Chelsea on Wednesday night than I saw from Manchester United against Everton.

“Sean Dyche would get a better tune out of this Manchester United team right now than Solskjaer.

“There’s no way a Sean Dyche team would have been beaten 4-0 at Everton.”

Goldstein then asked: “Are you telling me Sean Dyche would be a better Manchester United manager than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?”

Cundy’s reply was emphatic: “Yes!

“Sean Dyche is a better manager than Solskjaer. He’d get more effort and commitment out of the players.”
