Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to Accrington saw them drop into the relegation zone and they face relegation rivals Scunthorpe on the final day of the season as they battle to stay in League One.

Adams’ assistant Paul Wotton has also been relieved of his duties.

A club statement read: “The club would like to place on record its sincere gratitude to Derek, not only for his hard work and dedication in his management of the team, but also for his wider input into the club during four challenging and often exciting seasons.”

Kevin Nancekivell will take charge of the team for the clash with Scunthorpe.
