Liverpool have a shot at redemption this evening following their final heartbreak last season.

Liverpool have won Europe’s top trophy five times

Real Madrid claimed a 3-1 win in Kiev to deny the Reds a sixth title in Europe’s elite competition.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will be eager to do better this term but face a Tottenham side who will be equally motivated.

Spurs are making their first appearance at the final with Mauricio Pochettino and co having pulled off a remarkable run in this season’s competition.

So, who has the better record in Europe over the years? talkSPORT has had a look.

Liverpool

The Reds have won eight titles in European competitions, including their Miracle of Istanbul against AC Milan in 2005.

They lost last season’s Champions League final and also suffered defeat in the Europa League final in 2016.

Victory against Tottenham would see Liverpool move to third outright in the list of most Champions League titles only behind Real Madrid and AC Milan.
