The 23-year-old was Klopp’s first transfer back in 2016, but has failed to cement a place in the Reds’ first team.
After being loaned instantly back to Red Star Belgrade, Grujic then spent time at Cardiff City last season as he helped the Bluebirds reach the Premier League.
Neil Warnock was keen to pursue either a loan or permanent deal, but the Serbia international (who went to the World Cup in Russia) instead went to Hertha Berlin for the season.
And now, ESPN are claiming Atletico Madrid want Grujic on a permanent deal.

However, Diego Simeone would be forced to cough up a huge transfer fee in order to make it happen as Klopp wants to bankroll his own lucrative summer moves.
Grujic has enjoyed a great spell in the Bundesliga, scoring four times in 20 appearances from midfield.
His time in the German capital has seen him dubbed ‘Hertha’s best midfielder for 20 years’ by coach and club legend Pal Dardai.
It was his first major title with Atletico Madrid. He was previously linked with Premier League giants Manchester United and Spanish champions Barcelona last summer but he decided to stay for this season. The player is now expected to sign for Barcelona who is ready to activate the £108m release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.
