Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has told talkSPORT he had a feeling this ‘special’ Reds team would find a way past Barcelona into another Champions League final.
Liverpool will have the chance to lift their sixth European Cup after they staged one of the greatest semi-final comebacks in Champions League history – now dubbed the ‘Miracle of Merseyside’.
Beaten 3-0 in the first leg at the Nou Camp, Jurgen Klopp’s men knew they had to score four goals without reply to progress.
It seemed an unlikely feat, especially with top goalscorers Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firming both ruled out, and yet that’s exactly what they did.

The Reds went through to the final for the second year running with a stunning 4-0 victory, following two goals each from Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi at Anfield.
Houllier – mastermind of Liverpool’s five-trophy haul in 2001 – praised Liverpool’s ‘irresistible’ display and says Barcelona were left frozen in fear towards the end of their 4-0 mauling.
“I don’t know why but I had a feeling they could go through, even after the game in Barcelona,†the former Reds boss told talkSPORT host Jim White on Wednesday.
“They were very unlucky at the Nou Camp and there is something special about this team and I had a strange feeling that they would go through.
“This club is something special with the fans. It’s not violent, it’s not aggressive but it’s very loud and it brings the players to attack.
“Once they scored the first goal I knew they would go through.

“They looked practically irresistible and also it makes the opponents scared.
