Manchester City’s experience gives them title edge, claims former Liverpool boss Roy Evans

Roy Evans believes Manchester City have the edge over Liverpool in the Premier League title race – because the champions know how to get over the line.

The former Reds manager, who led the club into the Premier League era, is desperate to see them secure a first top-flight title since 1990.

Jurgen Klopp’s men currently sit two points clear of City at the league’s summit having played one game more.

And Evans claims that whoever wins the title will have to triumph in all of their remaining games.

“City have a little bit of an edge because they’ve won it before and once you’ve won it, it gives you the confidence to go on and do that,” he told talkSPORT.

“Liverpool are showing a really great spirit. Everyone’s got to win all of their games to win it.

“It would be fantastic for the fans, they’ve been loyal through the good and the bad times.”

The Reds have won their last four games, including Friday night’s 3-1 victory over Southampton, with plenty of late goals and the occasional slice of luck along the way.

But that’s no coincidence, according to Evans, who hailed Klopp’s impact on his players.

“He has a great rapport with his players,” Evans added.

“That’s the great thing about Jurgen, it’s not all about the tactics, it’s about getting the best out of his players.”
